What It Is

How Legislative Action Works in Virginia

Each year, the General Assembly meets in Richmond for the legislative Session. Virginia’s Session convenes on the second Wednesday in January and lasts 45-day in odd-numbered years or 60-days in even-numbered years.

During these fast-paced weeks, HBAV’s Government Affairs team is boots-on-the-ground at the Capitol, working directly with legislators, state agencies, and industry partners to protect the interests of builders, developers, remodelers, suppliers, and affiliated businesses across the Commonwealth.

HBAV’s Role

How We Engage

Strong grassroots advocacy starts with engaged members. The Advocacy Hub is your one-stop resource for getting involved and making your voice heard on the issues that matter most to the residential construction industry.
