The Home Builders Association of Virginia (“HBAV,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website at hbav.com (the “Site”), make a donation through our online giving platform, or otherwise interact with us online.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
We may collect information you voluntarily provide when you:
- Contact us through our website contact forms
- Make a donation through our online giving platform (GiveWP)
- Register for events or programs (TheEventsCalendar, GrowthZone)
- Subscribe to our email communications (ConstantContact)
- Apply for membership
This information may include your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, employer, and occupation. For donation transactions, we also collect payment card information, which is processed securely through our payment processor (Stripe) and is not stored on our servers.
BuildPAC Contribution Disclosures
If you make a contribution to HBAV BuildPAC, Virginia’s residential construction industry political action committee, please be aware that federal and state campaign finance laws require the collection and public disclosure of certain contributor information. This includes your full name, mailing address, employer, and occupation. This information is reported to the appropriate regulatory authorities as required by law and becomes part of the public record. By making a contribution to BuildPAC, you acknowledge and consent to this required disclosure.
HBAV Education Foundation Donations
The HBAV Education Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity. Donations made to the Education Foundation are processed separately from BuildPAC contributions and general HBAV transactions. Donor information collected for Education Foundation gifts is used solely to process your donation, issue tax acknowledgment letters, and communicate about the Foundation’s programs and impact.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain technical information through Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, including:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring URLs
- General geographic location (city/region level)
- Device type
This data is collected in aggregate and is used to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Google Analytics data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.
We also use RankMath SEO, which assists with on-site search optimization and does not independently collect personal information from visitors.

HBAV uses Constant Contact and GrowthZone to manage and send email communications including newsletters, event announcements, and legislative updates. If you subscribe to our email list, your email address and name are stored within these platforms. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. Constant Contact and GrowthZone’s privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
5. Member Portal
HBAV members may have access to a member portal powered by GrowthZone. Information entered into or managed through the GrowthZone member portal is subject to GrowthZone’s privacy practices in addition to this policy. HBAV staff use the member portal to manage membership records, event registrations, and member communications. If you have questions about data held within the member portal, please contact us directly.
6. Payment Processing
All online donations and payments are processed through secure, PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. HBAV does not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment credentials on its servers. By submitting payment information through our Site, you agree to the terms and privacy policies of the applicable payment processor.
7. Sharing of Information
HBAV does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We work with trusted vendors (such as payment processors, email service providers, and website hosting providers) who assist us in operating the Site and conducting our activities. These vendors are contractually required to keep your information confidential and use it only for the services they provide to us.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11. Third-Party Links
