About the Housing Excellence Awards
How to Enter
Eligibility
- You must be a member of the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV) to be considered for any award. Winners are announced at the 7th Annual Housing Excellence Awards Celebration during the 2026 Annual Conference at The Marriott Oceanfront Resort.
- Individual Achievements: Based on performance between Jan 1, 2025 – Dec 31, 2025.
- Projects: Must have been completed between Jan 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026.

Steps to Enter
- Review all entry categories and judging criteria carefully.
- Prepare your materials: Entry form, Payment, and Digital Files (site plans, floor plans, photos, etc.)
- Submit online via the Nomination Portal
All entries must be submitted electronically. File names should include award name. All materials submitted become the property of HBAV and will not be returned. Entry materials cannot be exchanged or modified after the final submission date. *Please ensure all digital files are high quality and in color when possible. All photos should be submitted as JPEG, PNG, or PDF files. Any photos may be used by HBAV for promotional purposes in the event your entry is a winner.
Judging
- Each entry will be judged on its own merits by a panel of distinguished individuals selected for professional expertise in the home building industry.
- You work hard on your projects—let the judges see your hard work in the best light! Carefully review your entry in comparison to the judging criteria and ask yourself: Does my project statement tell the story of my entry to someone who doesn’t know anything about me or what I do?
If there is only one entrant in a category, it does not automatically receive recognition. The entry must have an average score of 70% or higher based on the judging criteria and materials received.

Emily’s area of responsibility includes oversight of HBAV programs and events, partner relationships and development, communications, non-dues revenue and fundraising, committee management, and workforce development efforts. Emily oversees the HBAV Education Foundation, the Annual Report & Membership Directory, and the HBAV Keystone Club Partnerships. Emily is a graduate of Longwood University and joined HBAV in October of 2019.
Channing serves as the HBAV Development & Member Relations Specialist. Channing is responsible for expanding member engagement through knowledge and utilization of HBAV membership services, supporting fundraising for HBAV Education Foundation and HBAV Build PAC, and being a point of contact for member inquiries, concerns, and feedback. She also oversees membership records and dues billing for several local associations. Channing joined HBAV in September of 2024 and is a recent graduate from the University of Virginia.
